PAD London Is On The Way

In just a few weeks, from October 2-8, we will have the honor of participating for the fourth time at PAD London. Set in the beautiful heart of Mayfair, PAD is London’s most respected fair for 20th century art, design, decorative arts, tribal art and antiques. Participants include esteemed gallery owners and artists from around the world. Some examples include Mermoz from France, Modernity from Sweden, Sarah Myerscough from the UK, Nilufar from Italy, Portuondo from Spain, Maison Rapin – 88 Gallery from Hong Kong and many others.

As part of the fair, the PAD London Jury will select winners in three categories including the “Best 20th Century Design,” the “Best Contemporary Design” Piece and the “Best Stand.” The jury includes 32 esteemed judges who are interior designers, design writers, design curators, architects, directors at art museums and more.

This year, we have designed an exciting new stand for the Phoenix Ancient Art exhibit with an art deco inspiration to better highlight our many antiques. As part of the show, we will feature a small-scale Etruscan bronze statue from the late 5th – 4th century B.C. called Young Beauty. Her lack of adornment indicates that she is a worshipper rather than a goddess or priestess and that she once held a flower, fruit or other object in her hands. The young girl’s hairstyle is representative of that in the middle of the 5th century B.C. and the bronze was tooled after casting with the surface polished and the details skillfully chiseled. This specific Etruscan bronze statue has a beautiful dark-green patina with very few scratches. She will be a featured piece of our exhibit at PAD London, and one that we look forward to displaying.

Many press outlets are brimming in anticipation of the event. One source, Culture Whisper, offers these suggestions: “Check out Phoenix Ancient Art, which will be showcasing exquisite rarities from the classical Greek, Roman and Byzantine periods, or fast forward 2,000 years and visit Gallery FUMI, whose futuristic interior designs will inspire a thoroughly contemporary home aesthetic. This year will also see Italy’s power galleries DIMORE and Rossana Orlandi participate for the first time – both are well worth a frisk.”

As summer turns to fall in London, we look forward to joining with so many in this majestic area of London for the upcoming fair.
